Bobcat surfaces in Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe-based Specialist Surfacing Ltd has expanded the company’s fleet of Bobcat compact loaders and attachments with the purchase of two new S570H high flow skid-steer loaders and new Bobcat sweeper and bucket attachments.

Supplied by AMS Bobcat, the local Authorised Bobcat Dealer for Lincolnshire and South and East Yorkshire in the UK, the new order joins an impressive fleet of Bobcat equipment at Specialist Surfacing that comprises seven other Bobcat skid-steer loaders including S185 and 773TH models, four Bobcat 18 inch planers and 12 Bobcat 60 inch sweeper attachments.

Specialist Surfacing, a well-established contractor in surfacing and resurfacing roads, highways, docksides, car parks, industrial estates, footways, drives and sports surfaces, was established in 1982 by Derrick Hunt, and has since become part of a group of companies within the Hunt Group, one of the largest family owned surfacing companies in the UK. The group also consists of Britcon Ltd (Civil Engineering, Building and Fabrication) and Coldmac Ltd (Micro Asphalt Specialists), whose individual areas of related expertise make for a dynamic portfolio of services that can be offered to customers.

Julian Fowles, Transport & Garage Manager for the Hunt Group, said: “We have run Bobcat loaders and attachments for many years. They are incredibly reliable and are the perfect tools for us in terms of the access and productivity they offer on work sites and their ease of transportation. We have Bobcat loaders working in every facet of our business, from loading materials and cleaning up on our sites to general handling work in our yards. They are the best multi-purpose machines on the market.”

The S570H model is part of the Bobcat range of new generation loaders, offering significant advances in comfort, visibility, cab room, controllability and cab pressurisation. The S570H model features vertical lift path boom arms particularly suited to lift and carry as well as material-handling applications.

Julian Fowles added: “The increased lift height and optimised lift arm design of the S570H provides our operators with the ability to lift heavier loads higher, making it easier for example to clear high-sided truck boxes and hoppers for loading spoil and materials, as well as placing pallets loaded with heavy materials.”

As in all new generation loaders, the S570H loader incorporates a unique forward-positioned cab that moves the operator closer to the attachment and provides unmatched visibility in all directions around the machine.

Julian Fowles continued: “We use the Bobcat planer attachments to carry out the smaller jobs not suited to our larger fleet planers and for patching jobs for local councils. The sweeper attachments are brilliant for keeping sites clean and for working around our much larger pavers and rollers on site.”
